Home Palmer PPS Blazer Review

PPS Blazer
with Custom Work by Doc Nickel

My Blazer   OK, so this isn't really a review. There isn't really anything I can say that Ravi's review doesn't cover. After all it's his review that convinced me to buy a Blazer.

My Blazer was purchased used in October of 1998. When I bought it the Blazer had:

  • 12" Nickel Plated, Spiral Ported barrel
  • Vertical Stabilizer w/ Lapco Bottomline
  • High Volume/Low Pressure (HV/LP) valving
  • Nickeled Double Finger Trigger
  • Pro Touch Trigger Job
  • 3 Color Splash anodizing of the gun body, Stabilizer, and bottomline

Basically it had almost every option you could get in a Blazer. Shortly after I got it I sent it back to Palmer's for the updated bolt and a nickel plated, angle cut sight hood. I also had a custom stock made by Doc Nickel. He also added a stainless hardline and did some additional trigger work to reduce side to side play. And yes, that is my Blazer in Doc's Custom Gun Gallery.

In July '02 I sent my Blazer back to Palmer's for a tune-up and 2x finger .45 frame installation with nickel plated trigger and DYE Stickies. All I can say is 'wow'! The .45 frame makes a big difference in the trigger pull. Before the trigger was fairly short and pretty crisp and now it's super short and very crisp. Side to side play is also nearly nonexistent. If you have a Blazer and like .45 frames you owe it to yourself to get one!

I've also added a female Stabilizer to the setup since I run CO2. The only downside to this was that I had to remove the stainless steel hardline :( Oh well. The Blazer is very consistant and runs at 400 psi.

I added a Doc's Machine FatBob cocking block. I also modified an old style Jacko Infinity Angel barrel to fit.

To sum things up this is one of the best 'guns I've ever owned. It's everything I could ask for and then some!
