![]() The PGP is a closed bolt, pump action, stock class paintball gun that was first introduced in the early 80's. It has a 10 shot magazine and runs off of 12 gram CO2 cartridges. Sheridan released a modified version of the PGP in March of 2001. This version is often referred to as the PGP2 or PGP2k. I've heard that the first few PGP2s had a couple design problems but later models seemed to have the bugs worked out. PGPs have been around almost since the first paintball games were played. Sheridan began producing them in the about 1983. The first PGPs were called PGs, had the ball tube on the side of the gun instead of the top, and didn't have a pump handle. (NOTE: if you have a side tube PG for sale please email me). To load a paintball you twisted a knob, pulled it back, let the ball drop in the breach, then pushed the knob forward, and twisted it again. Later Sheridan moved the paint tube to the top like current PGPs, but still no pump handle. Then a little while after that they changed it to the style most people are familiar with today.
Palmer's Pursuit Shop can do many modifications to PGPs and remains a very popular custom shop. Some of the upgrades and modifications are:
Another great place to go for custom work is Doc's Machine. I've done business with Doc before and he's a great guy. He offers all of the same stuff Palmer's does as well as other things such as WGP style grip frames, .45 frames, and just about anything else you can think of. As long as you have the money he can do it. Punisher's Customs is another one of the best custom shops around and he is equally as talented as Doc. He too can do just about anything you can imagine including PGP semis (which he calls NanoCockers). Big Matt of Mad Customs is also a skilled machinist with several services available. Chipley Custom Machine used to offer a variety of custom work, however, he seems to be focussing on Cocker work these days. You'll have to email him to find out if he still does PGP work. Eric of Ferret's Phantom Page sent his PGP to Chipley for some nice work. See a pic of his PGP below.
I have 2 short (3 sec.) Quicktime movies of my PGP Stroker firing. First movie (no sound, 284k), Second movie (no sound, 198k).
